Upgraded 1SS and 2SS trims come equipped with a 6.2L V8 engine that produce 426 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque using the standard 6-speed manual transmission, while the optional six-speed automatic transmission creates 400 horsepower and 410 pound-feet or torque. Fuel economy for these trims ranges from 16/city, 24/hwy, 19/combined with the manual transmission to 15/city, 24/hwy, 18/combined with the automatic transmission. The forthcoming ZL1 will contain a 6.2L Gen IV V8 engine with a small super charged block paired and a standard Tremec TR6060 6-speed manual transmission that produces a whopping 550 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque.
Standard Features & Options
The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro sees updates to its interior trim and electronics. Standard with the base trim are single-zone manual air conditioning, Bluetooth wireless technology for select phones, auxiliary audio input jack, power-programmable door locks with lockout protection, power windows, Driver Information Center (DIC), front reading and dome lamps, OnStar with Directions & Connections for six months, two auxiliary 12-volt outlets, remote keyless entry, variable ratio power steering, steering wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls, an AM/FM stereo with CD player and MP3 playback, music navigator and Graphic Information Display that includes outside temperature display, SiriusXM Satellite Radio with three-month trial, and 18-inch steel wheels.

Possibly the most unique options for the 2012 Camaro, Chevrolet has created three special edition models for this year. The 2012 Camaro 45th Anniversary Special Edition commemorates Chevy's 100-year anniversary, as well as Camaro's 45th. The 2012 Camaro Honor and Valor Model comes available solely to active duty military members with exclusive badging.
The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro faired exceptionally well during the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's newly revised crash testing, earning five stars in their Rollover, Side Crash, Frontal Crash, and Overall categories. Standard safety features include Daytime Running Lamps (DRL), StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control System with Traction Control, Theft-deterrent system: PASS-Key III, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, and dual-stage frontal and side-impact airbags for driver and front passenger (Coupe/Convertible), head-curtain side-impact airbags for front and rear occupants (Coupe); and head and thorax side-impact airbags for driver and front passenger (Convertible).
